Vincent van Hessen is a guitarist who evolved into a singer-songwriter/vocalist/entertainer and busker Born in the Netherlands, Vincent spent his youth in the deserts of the Middle East. It was there, after hearing The Beatles, that he came up with the idea of playing guitar, hoping to one day become a rock star.
After graduating from high school, Vincent studied classical guitar at Hilversum Conservatory. At the same time, he formed a trio/band, focusing mainly on funk, blues and his own songs. As in many cases, the trio/band broke up after a few years, and Vincent decided to continue solo. Meanwhile, he went from one temp job to another, dreaming of a music career that just didn't seem to get off the ground.
A bit out of desperation and even more out of curiosity, Vincent moved to New York City in 2006, hoping to make music there and perhaps find a fresh start to his languishing music career. By chance, Vincent became a street performer in New York's "Subway" system, and so he unexpectedly discovered a way to still get his music career off the ground.
By 2009/10, Vincent was a full-time busker in Amsterdam. But as the city became increasingly crowded with buskers from all over the world, he started looking for new opportunities. This led him to organize busking tours in countries such as Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia, where northern European buskers were still a rarity. Meanwhile, Vincent was invited to perform during the winter seasons in exotic places like Thailand in the years 2015/16/17,
To participate in the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy 3 times between the years 2015-17,
the Adelaide Fringe festival in Australia in 2019 and the Gwangju Busker World cup in South Korea in 2023.
Furthermore, Vincent often performed private gigs such as weddings and birthdays all over Europe, especially with people who had discovered him by chance in the starts of different European cities.
