Untung and his gamelan shows as origin the sounds and influences from the East( Indonesia) the western culture and heard with his music
The band Untung has gained its fame over the years from 2003 to the present at various Pasar Malams and various Kumpulans (gatherings of Indian / Moluccan origin through the Netherlands ... 1 Pasar of which was surely Tong Tong Pasar in The Hague on the Malieveld where Untung was allowed to perform his music every year, and outside of that at events of world music and Jazz Days such as Jazz arround town in Rotterdam during Northseajazz and in Delft, The Hague, Amsterdam, Utrecht, s'Hertogenbos, Breda and Dordrecht.
The act and performance of Untung starts his intro with his drums and lets you hear and feel with his gamelan sounds and takes you on a journey to his native
Indonesia where you hear the Sawa ( rice fields) and Dessa(village area) of the East and from there the sounds of gamelan to the West is woven into his own music that transitions to world music Latin /jazz/fusion/rock and crossover from some nrs. from 3cd's produced by himself with influences from his heroes such as David Sanborn, George Duke, Marcus Miller, Sheila E. and Prince.
The affection for traditional gamelan and pukul tifa ( drumming, pukul kendang ( playing bass rhythms) runs like a thread through his compositions and arrangements to this day.
Composition: The band Untung has had different compositions over the years but always has one sacred base in addition to the extensive Oriental instrumentation: bass, drums& percussion, piano and/or guitar. At present, various luminaries pass through at the kumpulans.
