The world is full of many fine pianists but only a few have a truly unique story
and even fewer a gift to compose. Iris Hond is a pianist who writes new original compositions, grounded with the depth of the classical tradition.

Iris is not only a gifted musician, but also an inspired artist committed to social causes. She has initiated several projects where she uses music to connect and inspire people, such as performances in hospitals, prisons and shelters. Her belief that music has a healing and connecting power is strongly expressed in her work and performances.

Biography

much less a gift to compose. Iris Dog is a pianist who writes new original compositions grounded in the depths of the classical tradition. In 2013, Iris sent her original music to legendary composer/producer Patrick Leonard (Madonna, Pink Floyd, Leonard Cohen). He sensed a superior and special talent and the musical instrument to communicate, and Leonard signed on to collaborate. Iris Hond's album "Dear World," recorded in Los Angeles and the famous Wisseloord studios in the Netherlands, will be released in 2015 with tour dates and promotion in support.

Born in 1987, Iris Hond began playing the piano at the age of three. From the first notes she played, it was clear she had extraordinary pianistic talent. Raised as the daughter of Dutch free-spirited hippie parents, she was determined to make her own choices. So she left home and was accepted at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague in 2001. Living with a host family for a while until this arrangement didn't work out, Iris was forced and completely on her own at 14. Iris lived in a small apartment, struggling to make a living. She began playing piano in restaurants, with buskers and traveling around town with her flying piano on wheels. Along the way, she formed special relationships with the underprivileged, terminally ill and even prisoners, as she performed concerts in hospitals and makeshift venues throughout the city.

Hardened by life and seasoned with years of hard work and discipline, Iris has built an extensive concert career at home and abroad. She graduated cum laude from the Royal Conservatory of Music with such legends as John Perry, Leon Fleisher, Dimitri Bashkirov, Herbert Stessin and Natalja Troull. Shortly after graduating, Iris signed a recording contract with Decca and recorded two classical albums. On the heels of this success, she opened two shows for the legendary Diana Ross playing Liszt for 30,000 people and became a main character in a Dutch TV show.

Her interesting life has only inspired her. With a beautiful new album
reflecting her deepest personal feelings and classical concert performances complementing her own music, Iris Hond is on the verge of a major breakthrough with music destined to elevate every heart it touches.
