Jawdat and Ammar want to breathe new life into the music they have brought from their own background in another part of the world. In addition, they want to further develop their own instruments by also performing western music with them.
Baglamist Jawdat Shaabo and udist Ammar Melhem together form the band DuoDuo. The two got to know each other in 2017 in Zwolle, after they both fled Syria. At first, Jawdat asked Ammar for music lessons, but at the first jam session it was already clear that they were an equal duo. Since then, they have been playing their own style of music together. The two musicians both first ended up in Turkey before traveling further to the Netherlands. This influenced their musical lives in a similar way which made them very compatible. From this, their very own style has emerged. In their music everything can be found; Arabic - and Turkish music, jazz, pop, blues and flamenco.
