Quirky blend of soul, funk and jazz topped with a pop sauce, hitting live gensters. At any event, this super live band brings ambiance and a smile to the face . Unique due to the fact that father and daughter form a duo as lead vocalists combined with top musicians . Own repertoire (but can be adapted if necessary)
Zayna Esuo and D-Urbanites is a colorful band with members who have roots in just about every corner of the world: from Chile , Spain , Congo and Morocco to the Netherlands and Belgium. Together they create an exciting sound that fuses soul, jazz and funk with a touch of pop.
Zayna Esuo grew up among London musicians and it soon became clear that she would follow in her father's footsteps. After graduating from high school , she began working on her own songs and had the idea of putting new life into her father's former band D-Urbanites. Now she studies pop singing at the KASK conservatory in Ghent.
The original band was formed in 2008 from front man and lead
vocalist Malik Esuo (The Brix Academy , WKD and Tales of Hypeness). Along with keyboardist Jonas "lil 'jo" Desmet (Madame Blavatsky , Olga Jane and Keith Canvas) and drummer/composer Sam Gysel (Arno , Arsenal and Fugu Mango). Added to this is youngster Kasper Snellebrand as bassist (fellow student and classmate at KASK Conservatory Ghent). And last and newest edition Stan Gonzalez as funky guitarist .
Regularly there are also guest artists who share the magic on stage. Names like : Sebastian Pena Ortiz (percussionist) , Jerrel Seymonson (bassist) , Michiel Van Acker (keyboardist) and many others.
