Afrogrooves is an 8-piece band and plays Afrobeat, Highlife, and other West African inspired music.... A set by Afrogrooves is full of tight horn lines and heavy percussion breaks, always a big party!

Afrogrooves began in 2018 as a monthly jam session and quickly began to stand out within the Amsterdam scene because of its large 8-piece house band, full of tight horn lines and heavy percussion breaks.
The musicians of Afrogrooves have put together a repertoire of danceable, energetic hits from the likes of Fela Kuti's, Antibalas and Bixiga 70, which they combine with influences from Amsterdam's diverse music scene, taking them in their own direction. Afrogrooves is a welcome addition to any party and has since 2018 brought danceable music to festivals such as Kwaku, ADE, Ruigoord, Landjuweel, Hemeltjelief, Copacobana Festival (Belgium) and in venues such as the Melkweg, Paradiso, Cinetol, Doka and Pakhuis de Zwijger. They also performed in collaboration with world-renowned guest artists such as Moussa Cissokho, Kiala Nzavotunga and Lowkey.
