Edith Numeijer and Michelle de Jong are two professional singers who have been shining both together and separately for years on the stage of theaters, in restaurants, at ceremonies, receptions, corporate events and more.

In care institutions, performances are more frequent but usually one-sided without interaction with residents. Music can connect, bring back memories and sometimes even make residents with dementia laugh, talk or sing again after a long time, but interaction and time for the residents is essential. You don't achieve this with a standard performance from a stage with just singing songs. We contacted several caregivers and residents of care facilities and based on their demand for interaction in musical performances 'Memory Lane'

MUSIC - In this interactive program of course all kinds of songs from the past will pass by. From old children's songs to classics of for example Wim Sonneveld, Dorus and Vader Abraham which we will sing for and with the residents.

OLD EQUIPMENT AND SOUND FragMENTS - We use an old-fashioned radio and telephone with accompanying sound fragments and old news broadcasts with important events that the residents have experienced.

TELEVISION TUNES WITH QUIZELEMENT - We will play old television tunes and let people guess first by a short excerpt, then we will sing the songs together.

INTERACTION - People are encouraged to sing along nicely, move and clap along simply where possible, guess along and connect with us and each other. We try whenever possible to engage with the people and let them share musical memories that come to them from our program.

FLAGS AND SNACKS - We also provide, for example, a nice little flag to wave when the homage to Queen Juliana passes by and provide a cube of cheese and an advocaatje (or vanilla custard) with whipped cream. Of course in consultation with the nursing home so that we know what is or is not possible in terms of alcohol and allergies, for example.

memory Lane' is a program of 60 minutes and can be booked mainly on Wednesdays and Fridays in the morning or afternoon. In consultation other times are sometimes possible.
