Singer / guitarist that brings you authentic acoustic blues and country music, played by a 71 year old black american from the southern United States. "The real thing!" Original songs but also covers of for example John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Robert Johnson and of course Jimmy Hendrix belong to his great reportoire, which by the way also includes soul and funk.
Like so many big names, Niki started out in church in Louisville, Kentucky. Initially as a drummer, he later developed into a guitarist. With his bands Vendetta and M-80, he played major stages in the 1980s.
Now he does solo performances, great for small, intimate gatherings, but with band he easily plays a larger event flat.

In the early 1980s he and his band Vendetta played with groups like Foreigner and Joan Jet. At tonight's performance at 't Praethuys, he starts with that too, but soon more familiar songs prove to be the most successful. So it will be a smashing evening with Niki Buzz and the Midnight Blues Express (Cees Slats on guitar, Wil Slats on drums and Rob van Mook on bass). A fine Creedence medley, a beautiful version of For What It's Worth and a sensitive The thrill is gone by BB King to name but a few make this performance one big party, definitely a highlight of the Leiden Blues and Jazz Week!
