Hi, I'm Dennis van Aarssen, a crooner, songwriter and entertainer. My singing career started thanks to my win on The voice of Holland and since then I have released 4 full length studio albums, been rewarded with a gold record and an Edison Jazz Award and have done several national theater tours, club tours and festivals with my own DvA Bigband. Every performance is a celebration and I find it insane to see me and my band making music for audiences of all ages. Music with an old soul, but young energy!

Dennis van Aarssen, born in Dordrecht, grew up in Spijk. As a little boy he had the dream of becoming an artist. After hearing Robbie Williams' album Swing When You're Winning as a seven-year-old, he fell in love with Swing music. When he was in high school (Gymnasium Camphusianum), he took singing lessons and sang in a band for the first time. He stopped his singing lessons after three years and decided to record his singing at home himself and upload the result to his YouTube channel. He played in several bands, varying in genre.

After high school, van Aarssen enrolled in the Rock Academy in Tilburg, to which he was not admitted. He then decided to enroll in the HBO course: Communication - International Event, Music & Entertainment Studies at the Fontys Academy for Creative Industries. After completing this course in 2017, he started working as a Project Manager at Talmark and had all but given up on his musical dream.

A year later, he entered the talent show Topper Gezocht on SBS6. After giving up a career in the music world, van Aarssen hoped to experience at least one highlight, performing with the Toppers in the Johan Cruijff ArenA as the fifth Topper. Despite a good audition, he did not make it past the first round. However, his participation in this program gave a new spark to the musical dream, and he decided to sign up for the ninth season of The voice of Holland.

He managed to win the ninth season of The voice of Holland.[1] His single Modern World, a cover of a song by Anouk, entered the Dutch tipparade in early 2019.[2] As an award winner, there were several radio and TV performances in 2019. In these, he was accompanied by a big band or not,[3][4] just 6 months after his win in The voice of Holland, his own theater program "Start Spreading The News" premiered[5]. Together with BOSCO Jazz and Poporchestra he toured 31 theaters throughout the Netherlands,[6] and since 2020 he has been touring theaters and clubs at home and abroad with his own DvA Bigband.

In 2023, Van Aarssen won the television program Avastars together with dancer Floris Bosveld as the virtual puppet Jimmy Cool.
