If you are looking for a live revival band of the fusion, smooth jazz and jazz rock of the 80s and 90s by American heroes such as Marcus Miller, David Sanborn, George Duke and Bob James, JH!MP is the place to be. Surprisingly, JH!MP does this with self-written pieces.
Thus, each song of this band is unique. However, you will hear very clearly the influences of said American fusion icons, as well as those of Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and Jaco Pastorius. Seasoned musicians from the jazz and jazz rock scene, styles that the members of JH!MP also master.
What can you expect from this band when you hire JH!MP? As already reported, JH!MP has its own pieces. These contain catchy smooth jazz-like melodies, which form the basis of each song. In further freedom, the melody is expanded into an adventure, in which the members show their freestyle side. Styles such as funk, jazz and, of course, fusion, jazz rock and smooth jazz are covered.
The members of the band
are experienced musicians in the pop and jazz scene. This is what they enjoy doing most: Creation on stage, with catchy melodies, grooves and improvisations that are built upon.
Jhimp can handle a big stage as well as a small pub. Because of their freedom, they easily adapt for what is requested at the moment. Also as background music or during a smooth jazz dinner, JH!MP's music can be a true addition. But also they do not shun the heavy funk. Everything is possible. Stillness, dancing, intense solos, intimate moments. Jhimp also plays longer than 2 hours.
BIO Saxophonist Jan:
Jan recently shone in the impressive Ziggo Dome and performed for companies such as ProRail, Hilton, DHL, ESA, Min. BZ, and Uponor. Jan makes contact with the audience and knows how to touch people deeply time after time.
His talent has conquered many countries, including Nigeria, Bali, the Caribbean, France, Switzerland, Germany and Belgium. He has played with Dutch top artists such as Hans Dulfer and Thijs van Leer and has recorded for the keyboardist of The Who and the NL band of TOTO's Steve Lukather
BIO Pianist Paul
is crazy about improvised music.
Studied with Kees Molhoek and Bart de Win. After this he wandered around as a bar pianist in
Eindhoven, Nijmegen and surroundings. There was also a period as pianist at improvisation theaters. At
many jazz sessions in Arnhem and Nijmegen with, among others, Michael Gustorff, Jan van Oort

What a great evening we had with DJ Delafresco, trumpeter Thomas Wessels and saxophonist Jan van Oord! Really fantastic, almost impossible to describe so cool. Three pros with a super feeling for people, entourage and wishes. All three picked (from different sources) for their own specific style and inspiring performance. For our party it was the golden combo. The evening, upon arrival of all guests, loungie built up with DJ Dalafresco and Thomas Wessels. Thomas and DJ Delafresco, having played together before, are perfectly matched. This allows Thomas to go completely free throughout the crowd, giving everyone from front to back, yet even outside (which made for a very nice picture at sunset) a piece of his performance. Lounge and funk, super cool! Later in the evening, Jan van Oord took over with his funky sax sound. Jan and DJ Delafresco had never played together before, but for both of them I believe this was not the last time. A brief tune-up beforehand was enough for them to make it a blast night. Almost everyone was on the dance floor the whole evening, the "roof went off", exactly as we had hoped in advance. Jan also had lots and super fun interaction with the dancing audience. The accompanying technique and lighting were perfectly taken care of by Erwin Bakkum. It's that we don't throw parties like this every year, otherwise they would definitely be back soon. But maybe we will meet them, individually or together, at another party, because so many guests asked for all three of them at our place, that says something!
