Suzan & Freek is a Dutch singing duo that sings mainly pop music and acoustic songs. They love two things: Making music and loving each other.

The couple had been creating covers for several years and posting them weekly on Facebook under the banner "The Minute. They went viral worldwide in 2016 for their cover of Don't Let Me Down by The Chainsmokers. This cover was discovered by The Chainsmokers and shared with the description Wow, this made us tear up!, after which the video was viewed over a million times worldwide. On November 30, 2018, they released their first EP, titled Glass House sessions. This included five covers.
On Nov. 2, 2018, the duo released their very first song of their own, When it's night. The single was voted TopSong on NPO Radio 2 on November 23. On March 1, the single was awarded gold[1], for six million streams. The single Als het avond is is reached the No. 1 position in the Dutch Top 40 after 17 weeks. In the Mega Top 50, the single reached No.1 in its 18th week. In the Single Top 100, No.3 was the highest ranking. On Spotify and YouTube the single has been played millions of times. The single also reached the charts in Flanders, the Ultratop 50.
On September 27, 2019, their first album titled Gedeeld door ons was released in both the Netherlands and Flanders. This was preceded by the single Blauwe dag which also reached the Top 10 of the charts. On October 4, 2019, the album came in at position 2 on the album charts in both the Netherlands and Flanders. With their show Als het avond is, Suzan and Freek performed in various theaters throughout the Netherlands since September 2019.
In 2020, the duo appeared on the program Best Singers, where they were the main guest on September 3 and the other contestants performed their songs or favorites. In the following weeks, they themselves sang songs like Straks is het te laat (cover of Diggy Dex), Butterflies instead (cover of K's Choice), 't Geeft niet (an adaptation of an English-language duet between Milow and Matt Simons), Papa (cover of Stef Bos) and Het spijt me niet (cover of Tabitha) for the other artists who were then guests of honor. In the spring of 2020, the single Weg van jou was released, again good for a spot in the Top 10 of the charts. In the summer followed the single De Overkant, a collaboration with rapper Snelle and an ode to their joint home region the Achterhoek. The song spent 20 weeks in the Top 40. Later in the year, Suzan & Freek also received an Edison in the Dutch-language category for their album, which had also gone platinum.
In early 2021, the duo participated in De Vrienden van Amstel LIVE! This took place online, in connection with the corona pandemic. They sang their own songs, but also sang the song Ze huilt maar ze lacht together with Maan and Snelle. Also, starting in March, Suzan & Freek became part of the occasional formation The Streamers, who gave free livestream concerts during the corona pandemic. After the corona rules were broadly abandoned, the formation also announced concerts with an audience. In March of that year, they released the single Gold, which became an even bigger hit than their hit before. Meanwhile, due to an empty schedule with no gigs, the duo had quiet time to make a new album. It was released in October under the title Dreams in Color and was preceded by the Top 10 hit Onderweg naar later.
In early 2022, Suzan & Freek did a sold-out club tour of various venues throughout the Netherlands. Around the same time, the single Honderd keer was released and they received a second Edison for the album Dromen in kleur. On April 23 and 24, 2022, the duo performed two sold-out concerts at Amsterdam's Ziggo Dome for the first time. The two received praise from the audience and from journalists, who wrote afterwards that "Their positive aura struck a chord with the audience, where mostly happy faces could be seen," and that "as singers they [are] no outstanding performers, but they] translate life into benevolent songs that do not chafe or shock, but rather soften and veil." Suzan and Freek themselves described the concerts at Amsterdam's famous pop stage as a "dream come true."
