Amy Winehouse. Cultural icon, world artist, trailblazer for numerous soul, funk and R&B artists. Her remarkable passage as a somewhat unconventional pop diva ended far too soon in 2011 when she died at the age of 27. Regardless, the mark she left on the music industry remains palpable. Adele, Duffy, Florence + the Machine, ... . Amy was to them what Nirvana was to grunge and punk rock.

A Nite With Amy brings this legend back to life on stage. No easy feat. To bring Amy's voice and presence to life, you have to be cut from the right cloth. Ukrainian singer Julia Kolovertnykh comes awfully close to the original and lets you feel what it was like to attend a live Amy performance.

Julia is a singer, musician and songwriter. She studied jazz as a 17-year-old at the College of Arts and Culture in her hometown of Odessa. She enjoys various styles of music including jazz, reggae, trip hop, R&B, blues and pop which appeal to her the most. Amy's music and cultural image had a profound impact on Julia's own development as a musician.

Soon it became clear to her that she wanted to perform a tribute to Amy. First in Ukraine, then in Belgium and the Netherlands. For this she is assisted by a six-piece band of pure Flemish musicians. Jamie De Boel (piano/keys), Henk De Lose (trumpet), Xavier Saget (sax), Gert Motmans (guitar), Dries Van Der Werf (bass) and Gert Hermans (drums) create the sound on which Julia can build and bring Amy back to life.

A Nite With Amy immerses you in the world of Amy Winehouse and brings a mix of rousing, fragile, danceable songs from the rich repertoire built by a remarkable artist who passed away from us far too soon. An audience that dances, sings or visibly quietly enjoys is what drives Julia and her band to go for it every time.
