Short Bio Martin Stone
The musical career of the Waalwijk born and raised Mart Steenbeek ('Martin Stone') started in his elementary school period. His passion was music and soccer (goalkeeper at WSC and RKC Waalwijk).
He soon found himself in school bands and then he toured the country with various cover bands as a drummer-lead singer in Top-40 bands.
On the Solo Tour
In 1996 he decided to start a solo career as a singer, and with success! The publicity surrounding his CD for local VV RKC earned him gigs in Austria, Germany and even the Vista Palace Hotel in Monaco, among other places!
During that time he produced his first own CD single 'In the Storm' & 'I turn the Stone' together with Ton Masseurs.
The release of this CD-single resulted among other things in some promo performances at 'Veronica TV-Live' in Aalsmeer.
1st place International Song Contest in Malta
At "The International festival of Maltese Song" in 1999 Martin achieved 1st place with his teammate Fabrizio Faniello from Malta out of 28 participants from 14 different countries! On the second festival night he became runner-up (2nd ) out of 14 foreign participants with his song "I turn the Stone".
In 2004 Martin recorded 6 songs by Alides Hidding of which the songs "You are a Mystery" & "When I see Her" had a number 71 listing in the Mega-Charts top 100.
Also, in addition to his solo project, he recorded a CD album with the RockBand "Get-Stas!".
The title of the album is "And don't lose it" and can be found on Spotify.

In 2010, Martin quit his office job to pursue music full-time.
He participated in the TV show X-Factor where he was selected from over 16,000 candidates and was successful in 5 broadcasts in the last 30 contestants.
In the "Corona time" 2021 Martin was selected for TV the program The Voice Senior where he sang in the broadcast the song "Rain down on me" by the band KANE from The Hague.
A nice experience and change in a quiet Corona time that triggered many positive reactions on social media.
Since 2023, in addition to his solo project, Martin is also the lead singer in the Brabant Soul-Band "Foulplay.
These experienced musicians from central Brabant play Soulmusic from 'The Commitments' and a Tom Jones tribute.
Since April 2025, besides his other musical projects, Martin is also the lead singer in 'Almost Cocker'.
10 experienced musicians from the area of Breda, Dongen and Waalwijk play Joe Cocker's greatest hits.
