The musical career of the Waalwijk born and raised Mart Steenbeek ('Martin Stone') started in his elementary school period. His passion was music and soccer (goalkeeper at WSC and RKC Waalwijk) He started drumming along with his favorite records and was inspired by The Beatles, Golden Earring, Uriah Heep, Brainbox, Focus, Livin Blues and many others. Soon he joined school bands, and until the age of 18 he played drums in various blues and rock bands. Then he entered the parties circuit and started singing more and more, and until 1995 he toured the country with various cover bands as a drummer-leadsinger.

On the Solo Tour
In 1995 he discovered "soundmixing" which made him decide to start a solo career as a singer, and with success! In 1996 he wrote some songs under the pseudonym 'Martin Boter' for the local soccer club RKC Waalwijk. This maxi-cd was presented at the opening of the new stadium. The publicity surrounding this CD generated the necessary fame and response in the region and beyond. It brought him performances in Austria, Germany and even at the Vista Palace Hotel in Monaco!

CD Single & Cover-album
In 1997 Mart produced, together with Ton Masseurs, his first own CD single 'In the Storm', featuring 2 beautiful country-ballads by the Amsterdam composer Elbert Kok. 'Hitsound Records' in Rotterdam released the CD on the 'Sweet Lake' label (CDS 71142). The release of this CD single resulted in some promo performances on 'Call-TV' at 'Veronica-Live' in Aalsmeer. In 1999 Martin released the Promo CD album 'A taste of Stone' with 19 songs from his extensive cover repertoire.

(1999) 1st place International Song Contest in Malta
In September 1999, Stone was one of the finalists at "The International festival of Maltese Song" and this festival was for Maltese television in a large medieval theater in Valletta on the island of Malta. Martin translated the song "Sa-Lahar", by the composer duo Ray Agius & Alfred C Sant, into Dutch. And with this song he and singer and teammate Fabrizio Faniello from Malta won 1st place out of 28 participants from 14 different countries!
On the second festival night he became runner-up (2nd ) of the 14 foreign participants with his song 'I turn the Stone'. After this success Martin received an invitation from the Maltese commercial Tv station 'Super One' to participate in an International Tv Festival. And in December 1999 he appeared again on Maltese television. Another awesome experience!

Megacharts listing with 'You are a Mystery'
In 2003 and 2004 Martin recorded 6 new songs by Alides Hidding (Time Bandits) of which 2 songs were released on CD-Single via Multi Disk. With "You are a Mystery" / "When I see Her" he achieved a number 71 listing in the Mega-Charts top 100.

Lead singer in the Pop/Rock formation "Get-Stas!"
In 2009, in addition to his solo project, Martin recorded a CD album with the Pop/RockBand "Get-Stas. The title of the album is "And don't lose it" and the Live performances can be found at: www.youtube.com/mrmartinstone
In June 2011 they were in the finals of the Emergenza festival at Poptempel 013 in Tilburg where the band finished in fourth place with the Live performance of their CD album.
X-Factor 2010 (The year of change)
In 2010 Martin said goodbye to his regular job to continue full-time with music and also participated this year in the program X-Factor on RTL 4 where, out of a total of 16,000 candidates, he successfully finished in the so-called X-Campus among the last 30 contestants.

The Voice Senior 2021 (Successful TV appearance)
In 2021 Martin was selected for TV the program The Voice Senior where in the blind auditions he sang the song "Rain down on me" by the band KANE from The Hague. A great experience and variety in a quiet Corona era that generated many positive comments on social media.

Martin is also Lead singer in an 11-piece Soul band "FoulPlay."
With this band the old soul hits of Wilson Picket, Otis Redding, James Brown, Sam & Dave, Blues Brothers etc. come on stage.
