At the age of ten, René Karst composed his very first song. For many years he performed together with his mother, in the duo known as Duo Karst. This duo was admired in the kleinkunstwereld because of their beautiful songs from Drenthe. They released 25 albums together, one of which even reached gold status. After three decades on the stage, his mother decided to step down.

René then decided to sing in Dutch and conquer audiences with festive music. Theater halls were exchanged for party pubs and big pirate parties, with great success!

In 2007 the song "Supergave Tijd" was born, and with it René broke through as an artist. He gained national fame and released numerous successful albums and singles. However, the real craze only began when René wrote the huge hit 'Liever Te Dik In De Kist' together with his good friend Stef Ekkel. This ultimate party hit, now good for more than 16 million views on YouTube, became the hit of the year and Stef and René were welcomed as heroes in every party tent.

A versatile entertainer
At the end of 2018, René took a new direction and signed a contract with record company Dino. Together with his new team, he released singles such as "That Really Doesn't Interest Me at All," "Corkscrew (with Donnie)" and the big hit of 2019 "Atje Voor De Sfeer. René also stood out on television. He had a weekly segment on 'De Ochtendshow Met Frank Dane' on Radio 538 and was featured on television programs such as 'All Together Now', 'De Alleskunner VIPS' and 'Weet Ik Veel'.

Anyone searching on his name will discover a very versatile person. In addition to his musical career, René is also a lyricist for Dutch artists such as Frans Duijts and Wolter Kroes. He also dedicates himself to charities, such as the Reading & Writing Foundation, and makes occasional trips to the theater with intimate songs.
