In the 1930s, American Jazz reached continental Europe. This led to a happy marriage in Paris between jazz and French chansons & musettes.
Francesca and Jaïr know how to capture the atmosphere of that time and bring the lively romance back to the 21st century.
With their love for Jazz Manouche (also called Gipsy Jazz), Francesca and Jaïr not only started a friendship but also became a musical duo. Inspired by the great masters like Django Reinhardt, Stochelo Rosenberg and Bireli Lagrene, Jaïr created his own style within the music mixing Gipsy Jazz with traditional jazz.
Francesca was born in the Netherlands but spent her teenage years in Paris. Once in France, she discovered jazz and the beauty of French music. Jean Sablon, Juliette Gréco, Jacques Brel and Jacques Dutronc are among her great favorites. But Paris also gave her Django Reinhardt, Coleman Hawkins, Billie Holiday and Chet Baker.
The repertoire embodies the American/French cross-pollination: think waltzes, chansons and the American Songbook.

We had a very nice and enjoyable afternoon by Francesca and Jaïr. The residents were more than satisfied. Beautiful singing in combination with the guitar. definitely worth repeating
