Dick Treesie became known in the late 1990s for his striking appearance and the dozens of party hits he released. Think of 'Oh what a party' (2007), the single 'Not left, not right with Johan Vlemmix and his soccer stunners 'Rattata on to the World Cup'(2006) and 'Hee hee hee hee hee he must be in'(2008). The last single 'Dans met mij vannacht' was released 13 years ago and after that Dick put his singing career on the back burner. But on May 26 his new single Tante Klaar will be released
New single Aunt Klaar by Dick Treesie born of necessity
After no less than 13 years, party singer Dick Treesie has recorded a new single. Actually he had already said goodbye to his singing career, but when there is a need, everything has to be done to serve the purpose. And in my case that is money for the Foundation The Living Room of East.
Dick founded the foundation De Huiskamer van Oost in his hometown Haarlem. A place in Haarlem East for the elderly, the less fortunate, people with health problems and it is a neighborhood that has a lot of loneliness. Klootwijk's foundation ( Treesie's real name) holds daily small events, coffee afternoons and other activities. Haarlemmers can also
go there for advice on wmo applications.
Heavily happy was Dick when, after a long struggle, now 2 years ago, he got the majority of the city council along for subsidy and permission to establish himself in the Steve Bikostraat in Haarlem-East. Party chairman Louise van Zetten of the Haarlem City Council called the Huiskamer van Oost a "wonderful project" of volunteers. However, Dick, now 67 years old, sees dark clouds appearing again, because at the end of this year the municipality of Haarlem wants to withdraw the subsidy again and the foundation has to support itself and that is not so simple unfortunately.
Dick:
"So many people in the neighborhood experience pleasure and happiness from this place." They make new friends, have a cup of coffee, play a game. It is so important for the elderly and lonely people that the Living Room of East continues to exist and is allowed to stay here. That is why there must be money and I hope that soon all of the Netherlands will be playing my new single 'Tante Klaar' in all pubs and parties. With millions of streams and performances I can raise money for these people. It's not about me, it's about the people in the neighborhood. I am almost 67 and would like to leave something beautiful for others in my life".
The idea for this song, a 2005 cover by Ronald Moonen, came about after a visit by Jeroen van der Boom to the Huiskamer van Oost. "Jeroen performed selflessly with us and afterwards I told him about the plans for a new single for the Foundation. He immediately called out that I should record a new version of 'Tante Klaar,'" Treesie said. "The funny thing, too, is that we all give each other nicknames here. And let there be a lady we have called Klaar for years. A single woman full of temperament and it really is always a party when she is around".
