Pop music in the late 1950s/early 1960s in the Netherlands is primarily an Indonesian affair. The Tielman Brothers from Breda dominate the stage, but the Blue Diamonds from Driebergen sell the most records.

The voices of brothers Riem and Ruud de Wolff, who moved to the Netherlands from Indonesia in 1949, harmonize so well that they can give away a more than creditable imitation of The Everly Brothers. With covers of The Everly's they also score their first hits, but the success becomes truly enormous after the adaptation of the 1920s hit Ramona (1960). That single goes over the counter millions of times worldwide. After a mandatory two-year tour of duty, the musical landscape has changed so much that the de Wolff brothers are no longer around. They no longer score hits, but the nostalgia circuit will be with them forever. Ruud de Wolff dies in 2000.
