In 2023, Madeleine, accompanied by Rodolfo, reached the finals of the Concours de la chanson française at the Torpedo Theater with two Edith Piaf songs: “Padam Padam” and “Mon Dieu.”
Nostalgic, cozy, sweet, beautiful, quirky, jazzy, lively, down-to-earth, Amsterdam-style, Rotterdam-style, moving, etc.—listen and sing along, sway along, and (if you’d like) even dance to these songs for seniors and care facilities, performed by Madeleine Vogels under the title *Sentimental Journey*.
Madeleine started this in 2020 after she had previously gone to sing with a musical theater group (in which she had a role) at a care facility and was then inspired to do this on her own following the residents’ enthusiasm.
It started with about 30 songs, but her repertoire now includes around 180 songs, and, inspired by Edith Piaf’s “Non Rien De Rien” (which was part of her repertoire and was very well received), she has begun to focus more
on French chansons and can also be booked, for example, with a predominantly French program accompanied by an accordionist.
In 2023, Madeleine, accompanied by Rodolfo, reached the finals of the Concours de la chanson française at the Torpedo Theater with two Edith Piaf songs—“Padam Padam” and “Mon Dieu”—which can be viewed on her blog via her Facebook page, Madeleine Vogels.

Madeleine performed during the City Row Race on October 9, 2022—in a word, amazing! The performance took place between the rowing race, held on the Nieuwe Meer, and the awards ceremony. The mood was immediately lively at Wv De Schinkel, and some rowers even started dancing. Madeleine sang beautiful French songs as well as authentic Amsterdam tunes. coordination with the artist beforehand went well, she was present and installed well on time. unfortunately not many French chansons, although this was discussed. Madeleine not only sings well, but she has a very diverse repertoire. She enthusiastically responds to her audience, whether it is for residents in a nursing home, a café or one in an association canteen. Even if the technique fails, (as she recently had at a performance with us in the Jan Bonga house in Amsterdam West) she does not let herself go out of the field and she improvises with the means at her disposal, so that the audience did not have to be disappointed and the performance could go on as if nothing was wrong and everyone was happy with it!

Madeleine was with us a few times last year for a performance at a community building garden party of the Green opportunity and care facility Geuzenveld of Cordaan in Amsterdam west.
