Lisa Schenk and Sarah van Heuven together form the music duo 'Lies & Saar'. They play their own Dutch songs but also cover English & Dutch pop songs by well-known artists.
Dutch or English pop music, Lies & Saar have a diverse repertoire and can therefore be used on many occasions. Own work and covers, everything is possible. They accompany themselves on guitar and piano.
Lisa Schenk and Sarah van Heuven together form the music duo 'Lies & Saar'. In 2017, they both failed their final VWO exams like a brick. This gave them inspiration for the song Always Keep Laughing, with which they won the Culture Festival at their high school. This gave them the opportunity to perform at the Gelderlandfabriek in Culemborg. The performance "How do I become successful?" was performed twice due to its success.
Lies & Saar are known for their harmonious melodies and two-voicedness. The connection between
the two is striking. One reinforces the other. In between songs you get to know them, through the personal way the songs are introduced. In touch with each other and their audience.
The duo 'Lies and Saar' was in 2018 featured on program 'M' by Margriet van der Linden and in 2019 was on stage at the Betty Asfalt Complex in Amsterdam; the open stage for music with presentation by Paul Haenen.
The songs 'Het Laatste Applaus' and 'De Club' were inspired by the pandemic and are about how they yearned again for the little moments of happiness like a night out or going to the theater. Taking off those sweatpants and heading out the door tight and made up again! With these songs Lies and Saar could be seen on the TV show Tijd voor MAX in 2021. They also entered the stage of the Kleine Komedie with these songs.
Recently the duo sang the Dutch retranslation of the song 'Imagine' created by Jan Rot accompanied by a string quartet of the North Pole Orchestra. This performance took place during the presentation of The Koning Willem I Prizes, in the presence of honorary president Queen Máxima.
In December 2022, Lies & Saar performed for two weeks with their short show "I can't sleep" at the TapasTheater in Amsterdam. In May 2023, Lies & Saar performed a Dutch translation of the song 'Your Country, My Country' by Stef Bos (Original in Afrikaans), on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition 'Ode to Antwerp' at the Museum Catharijneconvent in Utrecht. This was officially opened by His Majesty the King.
