The Parso Quartet is a multicultural group that connects different musical styles and cultural backgrounds: from Persian to Russian, from classical to jazz.
The talented group puts on an inspiring performance based on the drive to connect their countries of origin not only to each other, but also to the country where they all now feel at home: The Netherlands. In a particularly fluid interplay, the artists create a unique sound, fueled by passion and melancholy, but which ultimately manages to lift the audience's spirits.
Classical music and modern jazz are complemented by the ancient sounds of the Persian percussion instrument the daf and the Persian flute the ney, which effortlessly bring bygone eras and distant empires close. Central to the music is connection, connection between the here and there, the present and the past. Thereby the Parso Quartet wants to show: with
music you can tell a story that is bigger than words.
The Parso Quartet consists of composer and daf player Farid Sheek, opera singer Mohsen Masoumi, Javi Ardani on the Persian flute ney and Arben Ramadani on the piano. Together they uniquely manage to combine modern Western and traditional Eastern music, complemented by well-known classics such as Puccini and Tchaikovsky.
