Maame Joses is a Ghanaian Nigerian actress and singer songwriter who started out as a poet. She studied Performing Arts in London, Sydney and Brisbane. Maame has sung in England, Australia, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands with Frank Boeijen and live on TV with Trijntje Oosterhuis, among others. In 2010 she became a semi-finalist at the Grote Prijs van Nederland and in 2012 at The Voice of Holland.

She grew up in England, Ghana and the Netherlands with soul, pop, blues, gospel and folk. At 16, she became a soloist in gospel choir Vivit. Meanwhile, she discovered Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald and Des'ree. At 19, she moved to Australia and sang Tracey Chapman's songs. Her debut album (2014) is called "Grown Man Cry.

And she hasn't been idle after that either!

Since January 2025 Maame can be seen in Dutch theaters with a tribute to Nina Simone 'My skin is black'. After mostly sold-out theaters, she will continue with the successful show in 2026.
