The Arthema Quartet is an international ensemble founded in August 2017. The musicians met while studying at the Tilburg Conservatory. They took lessons from Jenny Spanoghe and Jolente de Maeyer and attended master classes by Friederieke Saeijs, Daniel Bard and Isabelle van Keulen, among others. Despite its young existence, the quartet has already given concerts in venues such as Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven and the Toonzaal in 's Hertogenbosch. The Toonzaal was the final venue for the Willem II Chamber Music Competition, where the quartet won prizes
The quartet can provide concerts and background music. The repertoire is very diverse. They play from Shostakovich to Harry Potter and from Pachelbel to light music. During concerts the musicians try to convey the pleasure of playing to the audience. A suitable program can be put together for every occasion. The ensemble is also open to interdisciplinary collaborations, for example in collaboration with a dancer the ensemble has created a performance aimed at a younger audience
The musicians are
Violin I: Eduardo Diez Garcia (Spain)
Violin II: Gabriela Torres (Portugal)
Viola: Nikolai Clavier (Norway)
Cello: Diederik Smulders (Netherlands)
