Taking a moment. In a world that just goes on and on, singer-songwriter Anne van Damme finds peace in her acoustic, vulnerable pop songs. Armed with guitar and warm voice, she tells a story in which time seems to move slower for a moment. Clear, open sounds and nothing veiled words. Subtle musical turns that take you to a world where every feeling is allowed to be there. With a penchant for punk rock bands and the influences of singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell, Ed Sheeran and Jim Croce, Anne transforms her inner world into pop songs that touch and leave a layer on your soul.
Writing has become a way of life for Anne. "When I write, I am. Notes form under my fingers, sounds are born between my lips. Words come blowing in with the wind, or bubble up from my belly. Strings crunch, keys rattle. I write melodies, for they make my world brighter. I write rhythm, because time is ticking anyway. I write lyrics to share what I don't otherwise say. I write harmonies, because where everything falls together, I find myself again. I am singer-songwriter, pleasant."
The triptych album "Surface" was rolled out during 2024. The songs show a movement from dark to light. The subject matter is reminiscent of the wave motion of the previously released EP 'Waves' and delves
deep into feelings that are not normally allowed to see the light of day. With each song, Anne creates her own video to assist the mood and color of the song.
Anne has played on the stages of Poppodium 013, WillemTwee, Theater Orpheus, Festival Mundial, Endless Island Festival and countless other music pubs, festivals and living rooms. After studying Songwriting at the Rock Academy (2016), she became a full-time musician and songwriting coach. She also hosts The Songwriting Podcast.

It was a privilege to have Anne at my birthday party. Although she is above all a singer you have to listen to, she also knows how to hold her own during a sometimes noisy party. Her private concerts at the various seating areas were especially appreciated. Apart from her own works, she also performed covers and rehearsed some request numbers. Very nice and absolutely recommended.
