JazzBTW brings tasty jazz from the Betuwe (BTW). For the Burgundian Added Value (VAT) and it's jazz By The Way (VAT).

This trio consists of the trio Melvin Könings on double bass, Frank van de Woestijne on drums and Lucas Mutsaers on piano. We play with high dynamics, so alternating from very soft to very fierce and everything in between. And very interactive, we constantly react to each other. A sparkling dialogue and the audience can enjoy it. Jazz in European style, where a symphony orchestra is the starting point: the rhythm goes up and down, even with acceleration or deceleration. And reversing the groove, from swing to funk, bossa and samba. This is a different approach than traditional American swing jazz, where a somewhat firmer swing cadence (to dance) is central.

The repertoire focuses on familiar melodies. Modern melodies that the current generation knows well. Jazz once started to cast popular music (then musical songs) in a swinging (dance) jacket. JazzBTW does the same, but with top2000 songs. Playing jazz standards from the Real Book is fun for a small audience. But as soon as we rejuvenate contemporary music, a much larger audience becomes enthusiastic, even non-jazz connoisseurs. We pick up popular top2000 melodies, but we're not going to play covers. We make our own sound, groove and arrangement.
