Congo Beach Club and Wendy Kimani play old and new songs from Africa. Congo Beach Club's roots are in Kinshasa, the birthplace of Soukous. Soukous is popular throughout Africa, and singer Wendy Kimani from Kenya also grew up with it. But Wendy also loves Soul, making her own songs and scoring in hits with them in Kenya.
Wendy has been working with the Congo Beach Club since 2022. It's a party for everyone. Afro soul meets Soukous.
Enjoy Afro-Vibes with the Congo Beach Club. African music from the 80s to 2000s. We play songs by Cheb Khaled, Kanda Bongo Man and Manu Dibango among others, from Algeria to Kenya. Bouncing soukous and blistering Congolese rumbas. Boredom is out of the question at Congo Beach Club (formerly Kuni Kids), as they have their own style, developed in the '80s and '90s.
Enjoy the solid soukous riffs of John "Ya M'bongo" Ligtenberg, former agricultural advisor in remote villages in Burkina Fasso, where he was forever enchanted by the mesmerizing rhythm-guitar riffs of Lokassa Ya M'bongo. Ripping rock solos or
intriguingly woven guitar patterns: John does it all, and with all his heart. In the process, John is the only white mi-composé guitarist in the Western Hemisphere. Venez Voir! Come dance to the rolls of Julian Huiswoud, the new Surinamese drummer of the Congo Beach Club. With Steven Coljé on tenor and alto saxophone, the band gets an extra dimension; jazzy and funky he forges a link between Old Skool rumba and hot soukous of bands like Wenge Musica. And come dance, to the bouncing bass lines of bassist and bandleader Koen 'Kuni' Verbeek. His nights in Matongé, Kinshasa's hottest district, converted him forever to Congolese rumba. In all its guises, and in all languages. Congo Beach Club sings in Lingala, Swahili, English and French. Maboko! All those hands! Take a "Return to Congo" and come dance at Congo Beach Club!

An atmospheric, swinging and enthusiastic performance that made our guests happy and made them dance. At our farewell party the band played soukous and other swinging African music, a.o. by Manu Dibango: famous songs in their own interpretation. We would like to experience that one more time!
