Michael Bleekemolen is a former Formula 1 driver . He was responsible for introducing karting on the European mainland and made it possible for racing enthusiasts to drive spectacular cars on the Circuit of Zandvoort.
Bleekemolen started over 40 years ago in karting. In 1976 he became champion in the Dutch Formula Ford. In 1977 he switched from Formula Super Vee to the prestigious Formula 1. He drove once for the March team and four times for the ATS team. Four times he was unable to qualify. In the United States Grand Prix he dropped out in the 43rd round.
The following year he started driving in Formula 3, in which he won three races. In the general classification he managed
to take second place behind Alain Prost for once. After this he switched to the touring cars. To this day he is still active with his Team Bleekemolen.
In 1993 Bleekemolen opened the first indoor go-kart track in the Netherlands. He now has three go-kart tracks in Amsterdam, Delft and Mijdrecht. Bleekemolen also organises racing courses on the circuit of Zandvoort
