A stylish cover band featuring talented and professional musicians: Uli (double bass), Mark (guitar), Jan (drums), Anne-Marie (trumpet), and Helen (vocals). The repertoire is varied: jazz, Latin, pop, and soul. We play everything from background music for receptions to a lively party! Ideal for receptions and corporate events, as well as for private parties at a venue or in your home.
Helen, singer and bandleader of Helen Music, has been singing since her youth and is a familiar face on many stages and in various music studios. Her warm and powerful voice, combined with her charismatic presence, form the foundation for a spectacular performance. She effortlessly sings a wide variety of styles, from jazz standards to soul and dance classics,
and is accustomed to switching between easy-listening and up-tempo songs.
Mark graduated from the conservatory in Zwolle, majoring in jazz/light music guitar; he also studied trombone as a major for several years at the conservatory in Zwolle. He has played in various (show) orchestras and big bands, including First Showband and Maxim, where he accompanied many artists, including René Froger, Lee Towers, Gerard Joling, Frans Bauer, and André Hazes.
Uli made his way from the cello to the bass guitar and double bass. He studied bass guitar at the “Bass School Munich,” a training program for studio musicians in Munich. He went on to specialize in double bass and electric bass for light music at the Conservatory in Enschede under instructors such as Ruud Ouwehand, Wilton Jongmans, Wilbrand Meischke, and Davy de Wit. In 2003, he graduated “cum laude” as a bassist and now performs 100 concerts a year, ranging from jazz and big band to rock and Balkan music.
Jan ter Maat Jr. began his career as a drummer at age 15. From that point on, he started playing in various bands and ensembles. The musical styles range from jazz, pop, and Latin to classical and, of course, contemporary commercial music. Teaching is a great passion of Jan’s, which is why he runs his own drum school in Hengelo. The drum school has been in operation since 1977 and has produced a large number of students who have found their way in contemporary music. In addition to extensive self-study, Jan studied at the conservatory in Enschede, among other places.
Anne-Marie ten Heggeler is a trumpeter, bandleader, and teacher. She studied jazz and pop trumpet at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Enschede under Jan Wessels and earned her master’s degree at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp under Nico Schepers and Bert Joris. As a trumpeter, she performs with the Millennium Jazz Orchestra, the Dutch Concert Big Band, and the JazzArt Orchestra. She teaches trumpet students and two big bands on a weekly basis.

Saturday June 11th we celebrated our lustrum party at estate Anckerwaerdt in Culemborg. This became a great party thanks to the fantastic professionals who deserve to be 'discovered' by a wide audience. While we were being welcomed outside they were already playing, with visible pleasure, and lured us inside, after which the dance night started right away. The way they guided the evening with their music, built it up and got everyone on the dancefloor, deserves a big applause and that's what they got.
