The Bering Trio, based in the Netherlands, consists of Canadian violinist Paul Medeiros, American viola player Ian de Jong and Latvian cellist Aleksandra Kaspera. A close friendship based on a shared love for chamber music brings these musicians together. The Bering Trio is anchored in the tradition of the string trio (violin-viola cello, or two violins and cello), an instrumentation that became popular in aristocratic circles in the mid-19th century and for which composers such as Haydn, Boccherini and Beethoven often wrote.
Berings flexibility and eagerness offers a world of possibilities for both musicians and programmers. The group can be used as a string quartet, accordion quartet and piano quartet. In its short existence, the Bering Trio has, besides giving
concerts, also recorded classical and light music in professional studios. The ensemble is available for various types of performances and events. The musicians believe in a fresh approach to traditional classical music and in experimenting with unusual ensembles and cross-genre innovation.

Ian de Jong provided a beautiful serenade with the violin for my mother-in-law's 81st birthday. His performance of the Hungarian piece of music was both breathtaking and moving and brought a special atmosphere to the celebration. The birthday girl was deeply impressed by his talent. Ian was very friendly, he was also happy to do the gig again. Nice classical songs with some recognition, and with tango ending on a happy note. The room was a bit too small so it sounded quite loud, but he couldn't help that of course.
