After leaving as frontman with Direct, Tim continued his musical career with his own regular band, The Ivy League. By now, Tim has been in the business for about 20 years, and he's going to keep going for a while!
Tim Akkerman is a Dutch singer-songwriter and musician, born November 23, 1980 in The Hague, Netherlands. Tim began his musical career as singer and guitarist of the band "The Dash". In 2009 he left the band Di-rect to continue solo. Since then he has released several solo albums, with songs ranging from rock to singer-songwriter. In addition to his music career, Tim Akkerman has participated in several TV shows, including "The Voice of Holland" in 2010, where he reached the semi-finals. He also participated in "De beste zangers van Nederland."
Already 20 years ago, Tim Akkerman was on the eve of his musical career. A career characterized by highs and lows, hits, authentic choices, duets, special outings, a multitude of
songs and even more live shows! Meanwhile, Tim as a musician and composer has become indispensable in the Dutch music scene.
Since the album 'The Journey' (2014), Tim has been collaborating with his regular band The Ivy League and touring as a close-knit group through several countries. The third album 'Lions Don't Cry' (2019) brought the band to the forefront and officially changed the band name to Tim Akkerman & The Ivy League.
That the band has a large and engaged fan base was evident in the crowdfunding set up to realize the upcoming album 'Silver Linings'. Within two weeks the production of the album was secured and their supporters continued donating uninhibitedly after that!
On May 28, 2021, the single 'Silver Linings' is the first signal of their upcoming album of the same name. The album talks about searching and finding the beautiful sides of life, especially when life shows gloomy times. Tim has thus become the embodiment of positive thinking and has made it his own to be able to turn a gloomy situation into a positive one.
