Introduction:
The workshop begins with an explanation of the comedy world, how and where did it originate and where are we today. Your workshop leader is Tom Sligting; Tom is one of the first comedians in the Netherlands and started his career in 1994. Now, 29 years later, Tom has performed more than 5000 shows. He uses this experience to lead this energetic interactive workshop.

The Speaker's Bible:
Tom is also the author of The Speaker's Bible. A beautiful hardcover book containing his take on what goes into making a perfect business presentation. Twenty-five years of experience bundled in one book. Of course it is possible to give all participants a book after the workshop. Ask about the possibilities and competitive offer.

Creating the act
After the introduction, the room is divided into groups (from 3 to 8, depending on the size of the group) and we start writing the first jokes. Of course, how this is done is explained in detail first. Why is the beginning of the joke, the set-up, so important? The power of a strong punchline. These are all techniques that can also come back later during work; after all, if you can tell exactly what you mean with one sit, then we are talking about powerful communication.

The material:
What will be the topic on which jokes will be written? It can be the conference theme, the work situation or your own choice. It shows strength to be able to write jokes "about yourself" and, after all, humor has been used for that purpose for centuries.
After writing the jokes, Tom walks through the groups to dot the i's and cross the t's and make it a nice catchy comedy act.

The Comedy Show
Then comes the performance, one person from the group is going to perform the act in the protected environment of the workshop. Tom makes sure that's not the most obvious person, who often presents anyway. It is precisely those who are quiet, perhaps withdrawn that he persuades to perform the comedy act. And almost always these are the gems of workshop. Which is not only a huge victory for that person, but the whole group is suitably impressed.

The Final
After all the acts, Tom will be the MC (presenter) of the show. He will make sure that a perfect atmosphere is created so that all participants are ready to perform their short comedy show.
After that comes the judging.
Not only by Tom, but everyone, especially those who haven't had their turn until then may make their voice heard.
