Amsterdam-based Frisian singer/guitarist Geert Krijn has a background in kleinkunst and, together with guitar virtuoso Fernando Cepeda from Colombia, plays a unique blend of blues, funk, indie-pop and romantic. From Damien Rice to Ben Howard, from Johnny Cash to Leonard Cohen, from André Hazes to Maarten van Roozendaal and from Bob Marley to The Beatles and from Andrea Bocelli to Bach. His first Dutch-language album was released in 2024 and his first Frisian-language single "Twallingstriel" has gained worldwide fame on Youtube with a channel that now has more than 10,000 fans. With the new formation the Orbs, he has been working on a first English-language album since 2024.

Saturday, October 15, Geert Krijn together with Aeneas gave a great performance at my housewarming party in Dedemsvaart. The contact with Geert was very nice, very spontaneous and everything was well organized. He came together with Aeneas and they played a mix of Frisian and English songs, as agreed.) (Very nice: "One" by U2) With his beautiful voice, catchy lyrics and guitar playing he made my garden party unforgettable. Postponed by corona 2 years, but finally we could celebrate the 60th birthday of brother-in-law Arjan near Hellendoorn. For the drinks at Herberg de Pas in Haarle (a beautiful location) we were looking for music. A party is not complete without music and certainly not for Arjan. Via Showbird we came across Geert Krijn and contact was quickly made. Geert indicated that he would come as a couple 'that gives more body and possibilities' The arrangements about time and costs were quickly and clearly arranged. This also reflected Geert's passion for music: "Knowing us, it may well be that we end up playing longer, but we won't charge anything extra for that And so, on October 15, at 4:30 p.m., Geert and Aeneas were ready for a fantastic performance. Fortunately we were not charged for being late due to logistical problems. How fantastic this duo plays: what beautiful and very different voices, what a wonderful atmosphere and what a variety. From Krijn's own beautiful songs to The Doors and from Leonard Cohen and Johnny Cash to the Pixies, which nobody in our group knew, except Arjan who was a fan of them. So time flew by and in the end the performance did indeed last longer than agreed upon. Do you want a fantastic musical experience? It was a great evening because of Geert's performance! What a beautiful voice.... everyone was super excited. Geert performed at a birthday party, where guests from all age groups were present. Geert started by introducing himself; then he turned to the birthday boy and started his performance by musically zooming in on some highlights from her personal life by singing songs from relevant periods. With anecdotes the years were bridged and we listened to beautiful songs sung by Geert and accompanied by guitar play. His warm and characteristic voice made us enthusiastic listeners. Geert ended his performance with a beautiful song written by himself about his son. We enjoyed!

Geert gave a very nice performance. His warm voice and perfectly chosen songs that sound wonderful make me wish I could have booked him for longer. His songs by Leonard Cohen and Damien Rice are still ringing in my head. He ended with his own song 'My City' which made me feel even prouder of Amsterdam! And I would love to book him again!

Geert's performance was warm, atmospheric and professional. In terms of preparation, he was right on time, had all his equipment with him and even adapted lyrics for the target audience. Geert Krijn writes his own songs, with a beautiful melody and very nice lyrics. In combination with his warm and very unique voice it is a special performance and a pleasure to listen to. Besides his own repertoire he also has a wide experience with covers. For a nice performance I would definitely book Geert Krijn again.
