With a glass of wine on your lips, horn player - wineologist Jan Harshagen and accordionist Marieke Hopman immerse you for an hour in a melange of beautiful music with a bouquet of dry anecdotes and sparkling facts.
In an intimate setting, small concert hall or at your party, an interesting Grand Cru of composers such as Strauss, Bizet, Saint-Saëns and Mozart as well as dazzling film music will come along. All bottled up in a Magnum Opus! A perfectly balanced musical program in a very flexible line-up of horn and accordion. You will be drunk with love and overwhelmed by ripe grapes as pure as pure musical notes!
Joie de Vivre is a concert intertwined with a small wine tasting. We play music from the countries where the wine you are tasting comes from. We tell stories about our life as musicians, about the music we play and our instruments. But of course Jan as a wine
expert will also tell you about the wine you are tasting.
You can choose from the following two menu options:
Concert-tasting menu 1: this is for an intimate setting of up to 35 visitors. We take care of everything ourselves. That is: we bring our own glasses and wine and need a little help with pouring and handing out.
Concert-tasting menu 2: this is for a somewhat larger setting of up to 75 visitors. We provide the wine. You provide the glasses and two volunteers who can assist with passing the wine around.
In both menu choices you will be offered three different wines to taste. The total duration of the wine - tasting - concert is 60 minutes without intermission.
The programs are different in cost.
Who we are:
Marieke Hopman is one of the top accordionists in the Netherlands. She studied piano at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and accordion at the Royal Academy of Music Copenhagen. Marieke has a duo with Cécile Huijnen, the concertmaster of Phion, with whom she recorded two CDs. She loves playing in music theater productions, she teaches at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and she lets her creativity flow as artistic director of the Bach Festival Dordrecht and Festival Classique in The Hague!
Jan Harshagen: Jan Harshagen began making music at a high level at an early age. He graduated from The Hague Conservatory and soon he was playing with all the Dutch orchestras at home and abroad. With his current orchestra the Chamber Orchestra of Europe he has traveled all over the world with many renowned soloists and conductors such as Abbado, Harnoncourt and Haitink. During the Corona year, Jan sought his other passion and became a wineologist at the Wine Academy. This gave birth to the idea of a duo with Marieke in the form of music with matching wine!
