Raw unfiltered psychedelic rock from Belgium! Book Nimbus Cart today through ShowBird and get carried away by the nostalgic sound of the 70s !
The amalgamation of four like-minded souls from Ghent, Nimbus Cart brings emotional, dark ballads that unexpectedly spill over into breezy rock songs. From contrarian angular rhythms to guitar salvos and bass rhythms drenched in a layer of Dinosaur Jr., surfing forward on a 70's psychedelic high.
After an already young and turbulent life lived, Janis formed the band with Joe (bass), Steven (guitar) and Joran (drums) to give a place to the struggles she had faced in special childhood care.
With a mix of raw energy and thought-provoking lyrics, they seek to inspire change and raise awareness about societal issues and the fight against social injustice.
"I want to give a voice to the unimportant and powerless (frayed) edge of society, the
underprivileged and especially the young people in special youth care, who are still working their way through the stereotypical opinions of the privileged. Showing them that they are not alone and there is hope."
"I write from within myself, reflectively. I want to tell my story ... personal struggles, self-discovery and the search for meaning in a chaotic world."
Not trying to fix the world - just trying to explain how it is to be living in mine
Musiczine: First group I saw was the Ghent four-piece Nimbus Cart and what I heard raised my eyebrows. Seventies rock! I almost wrote 'stale' but it wasn't and that was mainly thanks to Janis, a phenomenal frontwoman who hadn't stolen her name. What a throat and what an attitude! Early in the set she managed to pick up a flute for one song, not exactly the instrument you make many friends with in rock 'n' roll but she didn't give a damn. The last person I saw using it in a rock band must have been John Dwyer of Thee Oh Sees. If this is a reference, it was one that could count!
Luminoush Dash: A solid voice that reminded us a bit of that other Janis, although this one had more of the attitude of a metal diva than a hippie queen.
The hurricane force that Janis, lead singer of Nimbus Cart, exhibits in their Bye Myself, needs nothing to hide behind.
Gay, sounds like a rough diamond of "PJ Harvey," our colleague wrote at the time. Rather, we hear a primal blues song in it, or an unknown gem from that other singing Janis.
Dancing Bears: Nimbus Cart is characterized by their layered rock music and dramatic twists and turns. We can confirm this after yesterday. There is no denying that the frontwoman has a distinctive, lived-in voice.
