De award winnende Robbert Fossen en Thomas Toussaint vormen een ijzersterk duo dat klassieke Chicago Blues met veel diepgang ten gehore brengt. Doeltreffend gitaarspel, zang met een ongekende beleving, een steady kickdrum aangevuld met verduiveld harmonicaspel; dit duo heeft het! (gage bespreekbaar...)
Robbert (1969) won in 2014 de Blues Award voor beste blueszanger van
Nederland. Ook voor 2016 is hij weer genomineerd voor deze titel.
In 2013 behaalde hij als eerste en enige Nederlandse blues-act ooit de finale op de
prestigieuze International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Begin 2017 haalde hij hier
de halve finale. Robbert heeft meerdere bands en duo’s.
Robbert deelde met vele Amerikaamse blues-artiesten het podium, onder
andere bij door hem georganiseerde tours met deze artiesten. Enkele namen:
Magic Slim, John Primer, Tail Dragger, Willie Kent, Melvia ‘Chick’ Rodgers,
Lil’ Jimmy Reed, Lola Gulley, Willie Buck e.a.
‘Blues youngblood’ Thomas Toussaint (1990) is één van Nederlands beste harmonica-
spelers op dit moment, ondanks dat hij eigenlijk pas drie jaar speelt; hij heeft dan
ook
de Blues Award 2016 voor beste harmonicaspeler gewonnen. Thomas beheerst
vele stijlen en technieken van spelen. Met hulp van een aantal gerenommeerde Ameri-
kaanse spelers heeft hij zich dit door serieuze studie eigen gemaakt. Met zijn eigen
Thomas Toussaint Band en vele gastoptredens heeft hij al de nodige ‘kilometers’ ge-
maakt om zich als frontman, sideman èn bandleider staande te houden.
Deze ‘kilometers’ maakt hij onder andere met internationale artiesten John Primer en
Tail Dragger; daarnaast met Neerlands’ Robbert Fossen, Eric Jan ‘Mr Boogie Woogie’
Overbeek, ‘Little Steve’ van der Nat en ‘Fat Harry’ Dorth.

In Katwijk enjoyed a good blues band that gave a wonderful performance that did not leave the dance floor unused. And also not unimportant, pleasant musicians who do not ask the main price.

Robbert Fossen and his band played the roof of the house on Sunday. It was a Sunday afternoon but that was nowhere to be seen, people flew onto the dance floor and enjoyed the show from start to finish. The finest blues classics passed by and are performed with honor by Robbert and his very good band.
