Jaap Jongbloed begon in 1980 bij TrosAktua en vergaarde daarna landelijke bekendheid als presentator van programma's als Jongbloed & Joosten, Vermist, Opgelicht?! en EenVandaag.
Naast zijn werk als presentator is Jaap ook uitgever. Samen met Simon Vuyk richtte Jaap de non-fictie uitgeverij Rebel op. Vanwege zijn werk voor het programma Vermist richtte Jaap de Stichting MISSING op, die de opsporing van vermisten financieel ondersteunt. In 2001 werd Jaap genomineerd voor de titel Omroepman van het Jaar. In 2015 was hij te zien in het zestiende seizoen van Expeditie Robinson. Daarnaast nam hij deel aan seizoen 2023 van Het Perfecte Plaatje.

My colleagues and I look back on a very pleasant collaboration with Jaap. From the first contact it felt relaxed, pleasant and equal. Jaap thought along with us, had an eye for technology and even brought his own transmitter so we could make good videos. He was flexible in time and we experienced him as very involved. In between emails to tune things up, very accessible. He managed to captivate the audience with his lecture and interviews. It fitted seamlessly with our health fair.
