Damla is opgegroeid in een familiebedrijf in Retail, een Turks/ Nederlandse achtergrond en parallel aan haar Masteropleiding aan de UvA volgt zij een TV- & Radio opleiding. Na haar studie vertrekt zij naar de USA voor een Post Master aan UC Berkeley in California. Haar voorliefde voor e-commerce, tech en het corporate bedrijfsleven begint daar.
In de afgelopen 10 jaar geeft zij leiding gegeven aan verschillende teams (binnen Wehkamp & Amazon). Waar het volgen en creëren van haar eigen carriere pad altijd vanzelfsprekend geweest voor Damla, komt zij erachter dat dat niet voor iedereen het geval is.
