Tilburg is the city where carnival ('Carnaval') is celebrated extensively. This happens mainly on the central square of the city where 'De Heuvel' is located, in the middle of the city center characterized by the Hill Church and the statue of King William II. The main shopping street is Heuvelstraat, with adjacent the Heuvelplein. Carnaval is a big party every year, just like the Tilburg Fair, the biggest fair in the Benelux. This is opened with the traditional 'Pink Monday', an event for the LGBT community. The underground music festival Roadburn is held every year in 'popzaal 013', the pop stage of Tilburg. Also every year there is the Tilburg Hap Stap Festival & Tilburg Culinary where restaurant chefs and sommeliers serve snacks and drinks in market stalls.
