Re-Start and return to the original concept:
Showbird was created in September 97
to be a showplace and exhibition mall for beautiful birds of two types:
- Exotic birds
- Private airplanes
for simplicity we will call both types "birds"

Outline of concept:
Many owners of exotic birds and many owners of private airplanes spend a lot
of money bringing their "birds" to exhibitions to show them off.
Showbird will give these people the opportunity to show off their birds on
the web in four ways:
a) Gallery Sites
b) Postcards
c) Classified Listing
d) Search Engine

a)Gallery sites
These are regular web pages with the first one built for each client according
to a selected template. The client can then either personally build more pages,
or have more pages built for a flat fee. Each client can choose between a directory
like showbird.com/clientname or a subdomain like
clientname.showbird.com
b) Postcards
Each client site will also have postcards featuring their bird(s) and pictures
of their choice. To give each client extra exposure, those pictures will also
be featured in the Grand Showbird Site with each card linked to the page of
the client who owns that bird.
c) Classified Listing
Each client will be entered in categorically classified menus so that visitors
can easily find them. There will also be sub-categories listing those that are
for sale for a fixed price and for those with a negotiable price or trade request.
d) Search Engine
The site will also have a search engine that allows finding any bird by name
or by descriptive keyword.
Both sections will also feature pages of general interest to clients and visitors
of that section, as well as content related advertising.
Software:
The posty engine is a Mypostcards Platinum
The database and search engine is an MDB
The newsletters and announcements to the membership are handled by a Magiclist
Addendums to the original concept:
We found out the hard way that the original concept was too easy to abuse
and we had to add the following amendments:
NOT AN EXLUSIVE ONE BIRD SHOW
The webmaster(s) will still be able to show off their own birds, HOWEVER,
we can no longer allow them to stop there and consider other bird owners as
competitors. If the webmaster does not stick to the concept and bring in as
many other bird owners as possible, then a different webmaster will have to
be chosen.
NO EXCEPTIONS
We found that one exception only leads to demands for more exceptions, especially
with birdbreeders, and shortly the entire concept has fallen apart.
Specificlally, there will be NO exceptions to the following:
Pictures have to be submitted, not instructions on how to modify pictures
of other people's birds
No double listing with different prices.
No restricting of picture usage. ALL pictures that are good enough to be
used on postys shall be available for selection to the Grand Showbird Posty
Gallery, not just the posty page of that client.
The best way to handle this is that the Grand Showbird Posty Gallery has
thumbnails that click through to that clients page. However, the Grand Showbird
Posty Gallery will use it's own composition pages, not the composition pages of
the client's posty page.
