Port is een van ’s werelds meest gerespecteerde wijnen, met een rijke traditie die meer dan 300 jaar teruggaat. Door de eeuwen heen heeft Port zich ontwikkeld tot een volle, weelderige wijn met een breed scala aan stijlen – van de levendige jonge Ruby tot de fluweelzachte Tawny en de krachtige Vintage Port. Bij aankomst ontvang je een professioneel proefformulier, waarmee je elke port kunt beoordelen en je persoonlijke voorkeuren kunt vastleggen. Dit formulier helpt je om de verschillende smaken en aroma’s te vergelijken en vast te leggen welke port het beste bij je past. Onze sommelier zal je tijdens de proeverij begeleiden, interessante inzichten delen over de herkomst en het productieproces van de port, en natuurlijk je vragen beantwoorden.
Port is een versterkte, per definitie zoete wijn die uitsluitend afkomstig is uit de Douro-vallei in Noord-Portugal. De naam is afgeleid van de stad Porto (Oporto), gelegen aan de Atlantische Oceaan.
Bij Goed Glas Wijn selecteren we onze Port met zorg bij Sequeirinha, een jong maar veelbelovend Porthuis dat wordt gerund door twee zussen. Zij werken met passie en vakmanschap, waarbij alleen de beste druiven worden gebruikt. De druiven worden met de hand geplukt en traditioneel met de voet geperst. Hun idyllisch gelegen Quinta in de zonnige, hooggelegen Douro-vallei levert Portwijnen op die zowel elegant als krachtig zijn, met een verfijnde lange afdronk.
Rita Sequeira, de wijnmaker, leidt het productieproces met een deskundig team. Sequeirinha profiteert bovendien van de expertise van
Catarina en César Sequeira, die zich toeleggen op productontwikkeling, marketing en verkoop. Meer dan een bedrijf, is Sequeirinha een familie, verenigd door hun passie om de authentieke smaak van de Douro te delen met klanten, bezoekers en partners.

Rosé Port – Fruitig en verfrissend White Port Reserve – Aromatisch en elegant Ruby Port – Jeugdig en vol van smaak LBV Port – Rijk en gestructureerd Tawny Port Reserve – Complex en fluweelzacht 10 Years Port – Perfect gerijpt met een lange afdronk. Port en kaas vormen een klassieke match door hun contrasterende smaken en texturen. De zoete tonen van Port harmoniëren prachtig met de zilte en romige smaken van kaas, wat zorgt voor een unieke smaakervaring.

On a warm Sunday afternoon, we enjoyed a delicious wine tasting provided by Goed Glas Wijn. The event took place at our home, which created a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. Our guide for the afternoon, Robin, led us through a selection of exceptional Portuguese wines with great enthusiasm and knowledge. This selection offered a fresh look at a wine country that may not be as well known to many. The wines ranged from refreshing whites to rich reds, each with their own character and story. What made this tasting extra special was that all the wines came from the same winery. This winery was known for its unique technique in which the wines are aged at a depth of about 40 meters underground. This process gave the wines a special character and distinctive taste, which was evident during the tasting. After discovering a range of excellent white and red wines, we concluded the afternoon with a surprising tasting of white and red port. This conclusion added a sweet and rich dimension to the tasting, which was a perfect way to complete the experience. The port wines, like the other wines, were clearly of high quality and offered a nice variety of flavors. Robin was an excellent host; he made everyone feel comfortable and had the opportunity to ask questions. His knowledge of Portuguese wines and the winery's unique production process brought an extra layer of depth to the tasting. All in all, it was a successful get-together full of new discoveries. The tasting offered not only a delicious selection of wines, but also an educational and entertaining afternoon. Beautiful evening with delicious homemade Spanish tapas and flavorful wines. Our group, despite the diversity of tastes, actually liked almost all the wines. The very knowledgeable and originally Spanish David guided us along the Spanish wine routes. He had great tips and provided a very interesting presentation of the wines.
