Sander de Kramer speaks passionately about injustice around the world, covering topics such as poverty, homelessness and exploitation. He travels all over the world for this and shares his experience in a crazy way. Sander wrote two books about it called 'Chief Old Dibbes' and 'Welcome to the jungle'. As a journalist, he had to and would go to the most miserable place in the world: Sierra Leone. When, in 2007, Sander de Kramer came face to face with the very young child slaves being ruthlessly exploited in the diamond mines of the poverty-stricken country, he made a promise to himself: he was going to save them personally. It is a promise whose consequences he cannot possibly foresee. In the ten years that follow, he makes his debut as an international money smuggler, is assistant to the coach of Sierra Leone's national team, is ceremonially crowned Chief Old Dibbes, and is offered three wives at once.

But more important: he makes good on his promise. And more than that: not only the orphans in the diamond mines, but also countless other underprivileged Africans got a better life thanks to the headstrong Rotterdam man. Author Jochem Davidse accompanied Sander de Kramer on his bizarre travels and poured his story into book form: a mix of travelogue and biography. As witty as it is poignant, Chief Ouwe Dibbes shows how much beauty can come from boundless enthusiasm, endless optimism and Rotterdam creativity.

Biography:
Sander de Kramer is a Dutch journalist, writer and presenter. For many years De Kramer was a commentator on the EO program "Dit is de Dag" on Radio 1. He can currently be heard as a panelist on the news forum on "Langs de Lijn en omstreken." Since January 2021, he has presented the program Zin in Weekend on NPO Radio 5 for KRO-NCRV every Saturday from 18:00 to 20:00.

He is the man with the biggest heart in Rotterdam. Advocate for the homeless, the outcasts around whom the average person runs with a bow. And has been given the honorary title Chief Old Dibbes in Sierra Leone, where he single-handedly pulled orphans out of diamond mines. Sander de Kramer simply cannot resist fighting against injustice. For his social work, he was named Rotterdammer of the Year in 2001, received the Paul Nijgh Penning in 2007, the Laurenspenning in 2009 and the Majoor Bosshardt Prize in 2013.
