Thomas Hijl - Lead Vocalist & Storyteller
Thomas Hijl is een zanger uit Nederland, bekend om zijn expressieve warme stem en zijn eerlijke en pure storytelling. Zijn eigen artistieke reis begon met zijn eerste ontdekking van Queen op 9-jarige leeftijd. Toen hij 14 jaar was bezocht hij het "Magic tour" concert in Leiden (1986), waar Queen en met name Freddie Mercury zijn hart veroverde. Op 16-jarige leeftijd trad hij toe tot zijn eerste band en in zijn twintiger jaren was hij Freddie-impersonator. Na een optreden bij 3FM op de nationale radio werd hij door Giel Beelen gekroond tot 'De Nederlandse Freddie Mercury'. Kort daarna verdween muziek stap voor stap uit zijn leven en werd het stil,... tot hij op latere leeftijd de stilte doorbrak en besloot zijn ware natuur te (her)ontdekken. Zijn passie voor Queen weer aan te wakkeren. Het ontstaan van Queen Theater! Tijdens deze artistieke ontwakingsreis ontdekte Thomas dat zijn levensverhaal naadloos aansloot bij de teksten van vele Queen meesterwerken. Verborgen levenslessen van Freddie Mercury en Queen en dit bracht hem tot de creatie van "We Are One", samen met zijn muziekvriend Giovanni Pileri. Een pure, authentieke en eerlijke vertolking van Queen en hemzelf. Recht uit het hart, tot in je hart. Music with a Message ... for ALL!
Giovanni Pileri – Musicus, Piano Virtuoso & Vocalist
Giovanni Pileri is een ervaren muzikant met Italiaanse roots. Met een achtergrond in vele muziekgenres brengt hij technische precisie en oprechte emotie in elke noot die hij speelt of zingt. Zijn passie voor muziek begon op jonge leeftijd en groeide uit tot een levenslange toewijding om op vele podia met verschillende bands op te treden. Op 19-jarige leeftijd maakte hij zijn debuut op de nationale televisie, waar hij bij TopPop speelde met Mike and The Mechanics (van voormalig Genesis gitarist.). Als een van de meest getalenteerde muzikanten van zijn tijd speelde hij in talrijke bands en trad hij op in Europa en Azië. Giovanni bewaakt de muzikale integriteit van Queen Theater, waarbij hij ervoor zorgt dat elk arrangement trouw blijft aan de erfenis van Queen, maar met persoonlijke diepgang uit hun beider muzikale harten.

Thomas and Gio, what a surprise. Being taken on a personal journey under the inspiring piano playing of Gio. A beautiful two / unity, the music, stories, anecdotes, musical surprises, 1 by 1 more than worth listening to and watching. The setting relaxed, homey and yet surrounded by a mystical something. Dedicate a warm musical heart to you.

It was a very touching experience, and the interaction was full of storytelling. Especially the different instruments during the performance created a unique experience, which also reminded me of my own stories and memories. Real-life experiences and language are always moving. Additionally, the way the piano was played and the change in musical style were stunning. Compared to the rebellious singing people did alone in room as teenager, this kind of adaptation feels like it's come after some time, a calm reflection on life, savoring it slowly.

We started the study day with a cup of coffee or tea. A stage, with a piano. What will happen? The day was opened by the director and, above all, she wished us to enjoy this musical day. And then it began.... Thomas and his companion started singing and playing and blew us away from the very first song! Between speeches, the 2 men kept coming on stage with a huge sparkling energy and managed to get the room, all 200(?) people, swinging! (via e-mail)

I had been introduced to the Queen experience before and had been inspired then by Thomas and Giovanni's vision and music. Getting in touch with your own charisma and power in a surprising way through the 'Queen experience' was reason for me to propose the group to the working group 'Preparation study day Voila'. On this study day, Thomas and Giovanni were able to make the connection between the power of the teacher and with the intention of Voila 'Seeing every child in its own unique potential'. From the beautifully sung and played songs by Queen, the education professionals were taken on an inspiring journey through their personal journey and their own craftsmanship. From the very beginning you are sucked into a breathtaking life story, accompanied by beautiful acoustic music. Of course everyone is familiar with Queen's repertoire, but in this setting you see once again how strong the music is, which has not lost any of its power over the years. An evening which, musically speaking, is a feast of recognition and which, through the experience of the story, makes you look in the proverbial mirror. Thomas is versatile, musical and works with passion. He gave a storytelling workshop for our Excellence students from the Retail course at Drenthe College. I told him what we were looking for for our students and Thomas developed a suitable workshop. This day was very inspiring and valuable, with a lot of personal development for the students. Thomas also performs with the Queen Experience, our daughter did an internship with Thomas and this day/evening was also instructive and surprising.
