The ideal festival band of saxophonist Ruud de Vries who, with his powerful saxophone sound and versatile repertoire, always gets the audience on board.
Saxophonist Ruud de Vries is at home in many markets. He bought a saxophone at the age of 27 and developed into a much sought-after saxophonist in both the jazz and the DJ world.
Ruud de Vries played at the North Sea Jazz Festival with his band and is known as a versatile saxophonist with a compelling sound. Ruud de Vries combines many music styles, where improvisation is key and entertaining the audience is the ultimate goal. He can just as easily turn the place upside down at a festival with his Funky XL band as solo at a dance party with a DJ.
His seven albums released so far (all available on Spotify) also show his broad musical horizon. The
melancholy album 'Moodprints' received the maximum 4 stars from the leading jazz magazine Jazzisme. This is the only 'quiet' album, with his bands he recorded a number of very funky and danceable albums.
With his innovative FUNKY XL band, Ruud de Vries excels as most people know him: with funk, soul, Latin, rock, dance and recent pop songs in the repertoire, Ruud and his energetic band are guaranteed to get every audience involved!

Ruud completed what we wanted from our first contact. He sensed very well which song fitted at which moment and played all our favourite songs and supported them from time to time with the Saxophone. We and our guests enjoyed it. Good timing. Even though he had to go up and down twice because of different venues it was perfect. Especially because he gave our 2 singers my husband who played oknog mouth organ and my daughter gave her boyfriend the opportunity to sing their song as well.
