Paul & Leo have been carpentering the artiestenweg as a vocal and writer duo since 1986. Starting as participants in the Heerlens Sjlagerkonkoer, which they wrote in 2015 for the 8th time to their name (they became second just as many times), they broke through provincially in 2001 with their participation in the Waolse Medammecour with their song "Hinge gen Hergod's vót" and, in that same year, with a 3rd place at the LVK with what in the meantime has become their personal song: "D'r loemelekriemer". The ultimate crowning followed in 2004, when they won the LVK for Heerlen for the first time with "Twieëmoal aafgezeëg (and still too kót)". Paul & Leo can now be seen regularly at the same LVK (already 9 times in the finals) and at major provincial events such as "the 11th of the 11th" in Maastricht, "the Boetegeweune Boetezitting" in Venlo, "the Vasteloavends Finale" in Gulpen, "the Stasie fest" in Roermond, "'t Klonetrekke" in Kerkrade, etc. etc. etc. But also on the stages in pubs like Pelt in Heerlen or café Dwaesj in Sittard Paul & Leo are welcome guests.

Paul & Leo released, next to their CD-single of "d'r Loemelekriemer"/ "Hinge gen Hergod's vót", three CDs: "Doebele Boam" in 2002 and "Vuur te klauwe" in 2007. At the beginning of 2011, a mini-album was released under the all-singing title "Hang de vaan oet!", the title track of which was "translated" into Dutch by a Brabants duo in 2012 and was proclaimed "Kraker van het jaar" by Omroep Brabant

Paul & Leo sing and write their own material, regularly seeking musical collaboration in unusual combinations such as with the Coriovallum Pipe band, the mallet corps Glück Auf and with various choirs. These musical challenges, combined with a lot of attention for lyrics in authentic Heerlens flat, are the basis for their success.

In 2009 the first performance of the vasteloaveskabaret "Hinge gen Hergod's vót" took place in Heerlen; a successful performance with a lot of attention for the songs of Paul & Leo, accompanied by the Toebak Combo, an orchestra with top musicians from the region and guests from all over the world, directed by Hans Op de Coul. After the sold-out performances L1 broadcast her recordings of this programme on the radio with Halfvasten. In the years that followed the broadcaster also broadcast the vasteloaveskabaret. In 2013 the first lustrum was a fact. On that occasion a CD was released that year with material that was written exclusively for these performances. That CD shows "the anger see" of the duo Paul & Leo, with non-vasteloaves material that touched the audience. The duets of Paul with his daughter Karlijn are an annual highlight in the shows and are also on the CD.

Paul & Leo are both bearers of the Order of the Laughing Donkey i Silver, a high distinction of the Heëlesje Vasteloavesvereniging de Winkbülle. In 2009 they were officially declared Ambassadors of the Heëlesje Vasteloavend by Mayor Gresel and in 2011 they were awarded by the Samewirkende Limburgse Vasteloavesvereniging with a "Zilveren Buut".
