A workshop at school from a real spoken word artist? This workshop introduces students to spoken word & poetry in an approachable way. Elten Kiene ensures that participants can express themselves in a safe and familiar way.
In the process, participants develop their presentation technique, language skills, "power" and identity. Through the small writing assignments, there is immediate learning and reflection. They are given tools to find, develop and learn to present their voice literally and figuratively in a short period of time.

Elten Kiene (b. 1984) is a spoken word artist, presenter, organizer and workshop teacher. He co-founded the platform Words Become Sentences and was part of hip-hop collective Brandwerk. Bringing different worlds together with word art as the main tool runs as a thread through all his work.
In 2020 he received the Cultuurprijs Zuid-Holland from the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds because he knows how to appeal to a wide audience with literary programs and how to
get the best out of young poetry performers.
As coach of Young in Prison, Elten gives workshops in juvenile prisons and makes programs for the World Museum and Read My World Festival, among others. He is also an ambassador for the AanZet Library and traveled to Liverpool, San Francisco and Johannesburg, among other places, for the Next Generation Speaks project.
