The Violin and Cello duo is a very exceptional duo because of the beauty and full range of possibilities offered by both string instruments. We like to combine different styles, from Classical to Folk, to showcase this large spectrum, while sharing with the audience the background and origin of each piece, to fully enjoy the music program.

Agathe Ensemble is a group of talented and enthusiastic young musicians who come together to bring forward some of the greatest chamber music works. The ensemble consists of a collective of string players who perform in a variety of settings, both in small and large formations. Agathe Ensemble strives to bring forward the best chamber music works as a duo or quartet. In this way we explore the very diverse, interesting, and broad chamber music repertoire

Since its founding, the ensemble has brought ambitious programs including Brahms Sextet o. 36, Quintet op. 101 or Mendelssohn Octet op. 20, and performed in various contexts, from living room concerts to festivals such as the Delft Fringe Festival or Chamber Music in the Sint-Janskerk, Gouda.

Currently 2 the regular active formations are: Violin&Cello and String Quartet. Both groups develop and perform their own programs on a regular basis. Other Agathe ensembles arise on request or through member initiatives.

Violist & cellist Duo: Aleksandra Kwiatkowska and Iván Nogueira

Great composers have written for this type of ensemble, such as Haydn, Ravel, Halvorsen, Gliere, or Vasks. Their works are often highly virtuosic, requiring great instrumental skill and good musicianship

Aleksandra and Iván also enjoy exploring and adapting music traditionally played by other instruments, such as Beethoven's duos, originally for clarinet and bassoon, or Bartok's Romanian Folk Dances, written for string orchestra. They are also interested in Tango and Celtic folk, rounding out a large spectrum of musical styles.
