The Kurios Clarinet Quartet, founded in 2002, has developed over the years into a versatile ensemble. During concerts, in addition to original contemporary works for clarinet quartet, arrangements of string quartets and other - mostly by the quartet itself - arrangements are played. Also klezmer music has a place in the programming
Furthermore, the members of the quartet regularly give concerts in which they play 'Die sieben letzten Worte unseres Erlösers am Kreuze' by Joseph Haydn. The Kurios Clarinet Quartet made an arrangement of this string quartet in which Haydn expresses the seven cross words of Christ. In recent years the quartet has given concerts throughout the country at many different and special locations, including the Hermitage in Amsterdam. The Kurios Clarinet Quartet can regularly be heard live on radio 4, including in the programme 'Opium op 4'. The first CD was recorded in 2006 and is now sold out. The second CD followed in 2010, which was given the title 'Delicious'. On this CD the quartet plays among others the 18th string quartet of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, works of Claude Debussy and original repertoire of the Hungarian composer Ferenc Farkas. In November 2014 the quartet recorded this third CD with the quartets of the Dutch composers Jurriaan Andriessen, Henk Tromp and Frank Den Herder. Den Herder's quartet was commissioned by the Kurios Clarinet Quartet and the work of Tromp is dedicated to the Kurios Clarinet Quartet. Andriessen and Tromp have never been released on CD before; the recording of Den Herder is sold out and has been completely re-recorded.
